R2D2 Projector

Back in April I put together a Gadget Wish List for 2008. This list contained 5 items that I wanted to get my hands on this year. Things have however changed and the entire list has been replaced with 1 item…..

…the R2D2 Projector

The unit is a replica of the R2D2 droid from Star Wars, the unit is fully controllable from a “Millennium Falcon” remote control which even includes movement from the unit - droid style! The unit makes genuine R2D2 sound effects, has a built in stereo speaker system and projects up to a screen size of 80 inch. The unit includes a CD/DVD player, iPod dock, memory card and USB 2.0 connectors that allow the playback of AVI and other video files. Also includes is a FM radio and enough connectors at the back to plug in your Nintendo Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Just a tip, make sure you are not getting lead-acid batteries if you were buying electronics like cell phones or mobile printers. While they are great for projectors and laptop systems, they don’t work as well for dvd or cd players.

The unit costs just under the £2,000 mark and can currently be pre-ordered from

  2. Oh my.

That is probably the most amazing thing ever.

I’d expect a life-size high quality replica of R2-D2 to cost that much anyway, but as a PROJECTOR?

    Someday, it shall be mine.

  3. WOW, that is fantastic!! will probably need a bigger house for a projector though lol! will have to get one anyway!!!!

  4. Oh my. That is so awesome. Too bad I’d never be able to justify the expense ha.

  5. Thats really expensive, i can imagine. As a major star wars fan i may have to get one sooner or later. It would be a very cool thing to own.

  6. It’s actually quite sad how much I want this!

  7. It just looks fantastic doesn’t it. No need to play blu-ray or have the best picture quality as it more than makes up for it in geekiness!
