Poker & PC Upgrades
Over the Easter holidays I was invited to a poker game, whilst there I was asked to have a look at upgrading the RAM and Hard Drive on a computer. Now usually I barley trust myself to attempt this on my own PC but I’d had a beer so I felt confident. Here is how I went about it:
Knowing a little bit about computers paid off here, I knew that the amount of RAM a computer can take depends on the motherboard and my biggest problem is always that I do not have access to the motherboard documentation and therefore have to go to the trouble of identifying the manufacturer and make of motherboard.
Fear not help is here.
I did a quick search online to find the easiest way to find the motherboard information. I visited the SiSoftware site - http://www.sisoftware.co.uk/ and found a great free product. You simply download and install the software and run it in windows. The software is really easy to use and gives you loads of information regarding the inside of the PC. A quick scan down the list showed that the PC could take another gigabyte of RAM so we went online and ordered that and a 750GB hard drive.
Now I didn’t win at poker, but the parts have just arrived and I’ll be going back for Poker & The Install this weekend.
I’ll let you know how I get on.

Looks like your off to a good start with your blog here. I noticed your comment on Nickoo’s do-follow list. Commenting like that works quite well especially if yo can get a link on a high PR site. By the way, ours is PR 4 and should be a PR 5 after the next update. It’s bookish stuff but you’re welcome to leave a comment.
The reason for commenting is to wish you luck with the poker. Not sure if this is with some old friends or acquaintances but it’s a great way to network. I’m fortunate to have been playing poker with the same gang for over 20 years. It’s quite nice. Good luck and if you’re playing Texas Hold em - here’s a tip. Most amateurs go in on too many hands. Only play your Very Strong hands and skip the rest. You only want to be in on 20% or so of the hands.
Good Luck

You should try and win those parts in the game of poker. That would be a great twist of events. Good find on that program though, I have always wanted something like that, thanks.

Pretty cool tool. However, I still have the documentation for my motherboard so it’s really not much use for me. All my PCs are custom built as branded ones always have little room for upgrades and I’m an upgrade freak.

Yeah, that would be something - winning those parts as part of the pot. Good luck with that - and nice job on getting that program.
