An old resource - revisited
Today I was shopping with my brother, he was looking for a TV and DVD player for the office, the TV was pretty easy to select and all we needed from the DVD player was something cheap that would play multi-region DVDs. We didn’t want a recorder or VHS-combo of any sort and even the picture, mp3 and div x play back were not necessary. Not long into our travels we came across a decent looking compact player that matched the make and colour of the TV at only £50. Now the player did not state what region it played and the assistant was also unsure.
We returned to the office empty handed to pursue the issue on the net. Within 5 minute by brother had found the same player £10 cheaper and found a combo of TV, DVD player and stand for less than the TV alone in the stores. So point 1 for this post - shop around, especially online. The great deal obviously blurred my brothers memory as he ordered the stuff without checking the region of the player. That’s when I remembered a great resources I used when DVD players first came affordable. The web site is called Video Help and can be found by following the link below:
The web site is full of useful information from “What is” information to “How to” guides. The part I was interested in was the link on the left hand side that read “DVD Hacks”. Simply enter the model number, in this case DVP 5960 and returned is the below simple instructions on how to change the region of the DVD player.
So that is the problem solved. A great resourceful web site that looks even better and more useful than I remember. I’ve just added it back to my bookmarks.
