All in one media solution
A month or so ago I created a couple of posts around how to rip a dvd, in the end 3 pieces of software were used. One to rip the dvd, another to shrink the dvd (if that was necessary) and another to burn the files back to a dvd. Although there are some packages out there that will do 2 or all 3 of these tasks I think I have come up with a better solution. The Blaze Media Pro Media Converter, not only is this a video converter but it also has some other fantastic features.
The software can be used as an AVI joiner, working on both compressed and uncompressed AVI files, it can also be used as an AVI converter. Again which I use a separate program for. The idea that I can use 1 program to deal with not only, dvd ripping, encoding, burning and also avi functionality but also use the same video program to encode and decode audio, capture video and record audio, burn to both cd and dvd is pretty unbelievable.
I’ll leave you with some of the key features of the product:

It’s pretty cool to have it all in one place if this is something you do often - though I would prefer to use free software as and when possible if it’s something I only do on occasions.

The problem I have had previously is that I never found a reliable product that was totally free to do even one of these tasks.
Don’t get me wrong, if there was a free alternative I would definitely go for that one.

i think there are nice free products. for example SUPER for Audio AND Video converting. Ever tried? Furthermore in many sectors there are open source programs like gimp for picture work.

I’ve seen SUPER but it looks very complicated. I like programs that are easy to use from the get go. I usually know what I want to do but don’t understand everything behind the scenes.
GIMP again is a great program but the lack of general tutorials on the web lead me more to using photoshop - I can simply google my problem and the chances are there’s an answer on the first page.
